LONDON, UK –An NHS prescription drug that has been banned by regulators and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has been given the green light in a bid to prevent its use by patients.
The prescription drug, which is marketed under the name Xenical, has been approved by the MHRA since January 2017.
According to NHS sources, it is being prescribed by a doctor who works in a specialist centre, but the pharmacist is not available for supply.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has been contacted by the NHS about the use of the drug. The drug was approved by the MHRA on September 30, 2017, but has been withdrawn from the market because it was being prescribed by a doctor who works in a specialist centre and is not available for supply.
